Percussion Concert Makes Music on Marimba, Tin Can, Bucket

Shasta College is pleased to announce a percussion concert on Saturday, July 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Shasta College Theatre in Redding. The concert will feature guest artists Terry Longshore, Dwayne Corbin, and Caryn Corbin. Several student percussion ensembles will also perform as the culmination of the weeklong Shasta Percussion Workshop. Shasta Food Group Summer Food Drive Runs Thursday

The Shasta Food Group will kick off its 11th annual countywide Summer Food Drive on Thursday, July 21, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Throughout the day, Shasta Food Group will accept donations of canned food and non-perishable grocery items at the Mt. Shasta Mall from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Other drop-off sites include locations in Anderson, Shasta Lake and Burney and Fall River (see list below). All donations will go to local food pantries to help the more than 85,000 Shasta County residents who experience food shortages sometime during the year. Continue Reading

Statewide Economics Summit Series Comes to Redding

On July 28, economic developers will have the opportunity to join 1,000 likeminded professionals in Redding as part of a statewide effort to collaborate and work creatively in generating economic growth. Building Momentum with Lean Resources is the theme of the first of three collaborative economic development summits, to be kicked off in Sacramento, and simulcast to Shasta County featuring localized discussions on ways to create economic opportunity in the area. The summits will be hosted by California Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) in partnership with the California Association for Local Economic Development (CALED) as part of the series goal to reach 1,000 economic developers across the state over summer 2011.
