In a late-Thursday-afternoon June 30 press release, Cathy Darling Allen, Shasta County Clerk and Registrar of Voters, released the final certified election count update.
According to Darling Allen said that the final certified election results will be presented to the governing Board — the Shasta County Board of Supervisors — at their July 12 meeting, where supervisors shall accept the certified results and declare local candidates elected.
Darling Allen said that election contests or requests for a recount must be received no later than 5 pm on Tues., July 5th, 2022 (CA Elections Code 15620 and 16421).

June 17, 2022: Fourth Estimated Unprocessed Ballot Report

On Fri., June 17, Cathy Darling Allen, Shasta County Clerk/Registrar of Voters, released the fourth estimated unprocessed ballot count. Darling Allen emphasizes that this report is an estimated count of unprocessed ballots that are currently in the elections office. Elections department staff continue to process these ballots, including verifying signatures and voter eligibility. Darling Allen said there may be ballots added to this count or removed as necessary, as staff determines ballot eligibility.

June 15, 2022: Third Estimated Unprocessed Ballot Report
On the afternoon of Wednesday, June 15, Shasta County clerk/registrar of voters Cathy Darling Allen released the latest election figures that are in the election office. She cautioned the public to remember that these votes provide an estimate.
“We are still processing these ballots, including verifying the signature and the eligibility of the voter,” Darling Allen said in a press release. “There may be ballots added to this count or removed as necessary, as we determine the eligibility of ballots received.”

23,953 Estimated Shasta County Ballots Remain Unprocessed
Cathy Darling Allen, Shasta County Clerk and Registrar of Voters, released the county election department’s “First Estimated Unprocessed Ballot Report” in a press release this afternoon.
According to Darling Allen, this report is an estimated count of unprocessed ballots currently on site in the election department.
“It is just that, an estimate,” Darling Allen said in the press release. “We are still processing these ballots, including verifying the signature and the eligibility of the voter. There may be ballots added to count or removed as necessary, as we receive valid post marked ballots from the post office through June 14, 2022.”

Darling Allen said that the next expected results reported will be released at Friday at 5 p.m.
“We thank you all for your understanding as we process all eligible ballots for this election,” she said.
The previous June 8 2022 updated information on the the election department’s website reported a turnout of 26,140 voters out of Shasta County’s 112,358 registered voters. for a 23.26 percent voter turnout.
Shasta County’s Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning election vote counts reported the following results for local races:

Bryan Caples: 8 p.m.: 6,225 votes; 34.11 percent.
Judy Flores: 8 p.m.: 12,023 votes; 65.89 percent.
Shasta County Supervisor, District 1
Kevin Crye: 8 p.m. 1,224 votes; 34.11 percent
Erin Resner: 8 p.m. 1,864; 53.50 percent
(Note: Kymberly Vollmers, who dropped out of the race during a candidates forum and lent her endorsement to Resner, received 397 votes; 11.39 percent.)

Dates to remember
Thurs., June 9: County clerk will publish an approximate total available of the remaining ballots to be added to the count.
Fri. June 10: County clerk will publish updated totals that may include ballots dropped on Election Day.

For local races, such as county supervisors, or elected county department heads, the winning candidate must get 50 percent of the vote, plus 1 vote.
