2018 District 1 Candidates for Congress

Shasta Community Access Center-TV videotaped the 2018 District One Candidates for Congress forum. The event was hosted by the League of Women Voters/Redding Area and took place on Wed. May 9 at the Shasta County Library in Redding.

Candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives District 1 are: Gregory Cheadle, Audrey Denney, Lewis Elbinger, Jessica Holcombe, Doug La Malfa, David Peterson, and Marty Walters.

Incumbent Doug LaMalfa (R), first elected in 2012, was the only candidate to not attend the event. LaMalfa and his office did not accept the League’s invitation to submit a written statement to be read at the forum.

California’s 1st Congressional District is located in the northern portion of the state and includes the counties of Butte, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, and Tehama and parts of Glenn, Nevada and Placer counties.
