Dignity Health and Rotary Club of Redding West held their 11th-annual ‘Taste of Redding” event Sunday afternoon at Redding City Hall’s Sculpture Park.
It was a sold-out success – once again.
A ‘Taste of Redding” gives people a taste (samples) from several Redding restaurants, including beverages from many north state wineries and breweries.
Booths were set up inside Sculpture Park and other areas around City Hall. It’s a beautiful setting for an outdoor celebration of food and beverage.
It’s fun to go from booth to booth tasting what that each restaurant has to offer, while sipping wine and beer and even flavored waters.
Some people piled it all on one plate for a big meal instead of just tasting here and there.
Others methodically grazed upon one sample, and then another.
The food samples varied from tacos, cobbler, and chilled shrimp, to barbecued ribs and even ice cream.
The event was family-friendly, too, with games and face-painting to keep the kids happy.
The weather was perfect. Cloudy skies were welcomed. They helped keep the sun off us at times, although there was plenty of shade under trees and awnings.
Music, provided by a rotation of several bands, filled the air.
Where could you have a better time?
Everyone’s spirits were high – well, there was wine and beer – but still, everyone’s spirits were high and we all had a good time.
It was my first “Taste of Redding” and I have to say, it was a lot of delicious fun.
