On Saturday and Sunday (July 9 and 10), internationally known artist Jen Sheng Song, a graduate of the Central Academy of Art and Design in Bejing, will exhibit watercolors, oils, and other fine art media for sale. Song’s paintings are in international and American museum collections. Many people in our region have Song’s art in their personal collections.

Howard “Luke” Lucas owner of the art center in Viola, met Song and his wife in Tokyo and discussed the possibility of his coming to America. With an invitation bearing the Mt. Lassen Art Center letterhead in 2003, Song was able to apply for a Visa in China to come to the U.S.  Song has been very successful selling his art, traveling throughout our country; from the proceeds of selling his art, he has been able to purchase a new motor home.

At 7 p.m. on Monday, July 11, Song will make a presentation on his painting at the North Valley Art League, 48 Quartz Hill Rd. (Caldwell Park) in Redding. The tenth annual Mt. Lassen Art Show is Saturday and Sunday, July 9 and 10, 10-6 p.m., at the Mt. Lassen Art Center, 36373 Hwy 44 in Viola, 11 miles east of the Shingletown Store, 7 miles west of the North Entrance to Lassen Volcanic National Park. Beat the heat at 4,300 ft.
