Doni’s GO Picks 3.26.09

go-goat-cheese

Someday I might stick to my plan and just pick one item from the Grocery Outlet Bargain Store in Redding to share with you. So far, I can’t do it. Too many choices. (Did I mention the J. Jill tank tops at the GO? I bought one in green. Speaking of green, the GO’s $5-off-$50 coupons are valid through March 31)

No time to talk. Here are my favorite GO picks for this week. starting with the Chevrai Party Pack of goat cheeses: GO sells it for $4.99; while elsewhere it’s sold for $9.99.

go-prosciutto

Next is the Busseto Prosciutto, normally sold for $7.99, but GO sells it for $2.99. (The package contains “irregular” slices. For my purposes, I don’t need perfectly sized prosciutto. I like to dice it, saute it and sprinkle it on salads, in quiches, on baked potatoes or sprinkled on butternut squash soup.)

OK, I just couldn’t pass up the Lucerne brand small cartons of sour cream – 50 cents each – because the exact product is sold this week at Safeway for twice the cost – on sale.

Finally, I promised a wine pick. I chose a white wine, and for an expert opinion I consulted our own Kelly Brewer, who prefers white wines over reds.

go-pinot

I bought this Pinot Grigio at the GO for $3.99, mainly because it sells elsewhere for $12.99.

Kelly said she’d already bought some and tried it, and she liked it. (The wine label mentions something on the back about a golf tournament, but don’t let that sway you.)

There you go. Enjoy your shopping, and if you come across some good deals, tell us about them. Please.
