I’m a bit partial to  events in my neighborhood.

We mentioned in this week’s Dish how I heard about West Valley Fire Station 55’s BBQ, and told of the Igo/Ono community yard sale. Both are fun, hyper local, super small-town events that benefit the community. In the case of both these events, they benefit our local volunteer fire companies out here in the boondocks, a place where fire isn’t just a threat, but a given. Plus, our firefighters are often first-responders to all kinds of calamities.

Not to plan your Saturday for you, but you might consider starting your day in Igo at Fire Station 50’s for a pancake breakfast, then stroll through the Igo Town Yard Sale (just around the corner), then later wind up your day with dinner at the West Vally Fire Station 55’s barbecue, complete with a rifle raffle.

Only in the north state.
