In the Bleachers

There are 28 TVs in Bleachers Sports Bar. My eyes are pegged to the flatscreen above the fireplace (fireplace?) showing the Rockies-Phillies playoff game.

The National League divisional playoff game has been relegated to the soap opera (gee, I wonder if the Yankees are playing in prime time?), but Bleachers (2167 Hilltop Drive in Redding) has come to the rescue.

I enjoyed a lunch of fat, spicy wings (12 for $8.99). Decided on a Racer 5 from a selection of 18 beers on tap (the establishment features a full bar).

What used to be Chuck E Cheese has now made way for a spacious sports bar. Bleachers’ menu plays to the sports theme with items like Pele Poppers (jalapeno poppers) $4.99, Denver Nuggets with Fries (chicken nuggets) $5.99, and the Turkey Trot (turkey sandwich) $8.49. The menu has fare you’d expect from a sports bar — nachos, burgers and plenty of drink specials.

Happy hour runs from 4 to 7 p.m. daily. There are two pool tables, a dart board, some video games, patio seating and a party room. Bleachers also features wireless Internet.

Bleachers is open 11 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday (during college football season). Call 222-6555 for more information.
