This is my somewhat humble — likely futile, hoping not — attempt at trying to reason with those who consider themselves as some sort of “better version” of MAGA; those who consider themselves to be conservative, moderate, reasonable, caring, middle-of-the road, reach-across-the-aisle Trump supporters.
Trump recently spoke in support of “Remigration” (Identity Movement) at one of his rallies. Remigration. Also known as “Ethnic Cleansing”. He didn’t just dog whistle to White Nationalists, he put it on full blast in broad daylight. In what world is that OK, other than in a White Nationalist’s world?
To the single-issue Trump voters who say you’re not voting for Trump’s personality, it follows that you’re saying you’re voting for his policies. Ethnic Cleansing in our United States of America is one of the insidious immigration reform “policies” he is currently platforming on.
“Cafeteria voting” for Trump — ‘I’ll have one of these, but not one of those’ — may make some voters feel better about themselves, but the stark reality is that when you vote for Trump you get the entire meal, and it includes his support of Remigration.
Racism is racism is racism, and no amount of pretzel logic in an attempt to justify a Trump vote, i.e. the price of gas (presidents don’t set gas prices), abortion, etc. erases that fact.
I’m asking (begging really) for any would-be Trump voters to do some soul-searching as to what you’re willing to actually support.
