In reply to Mahmoud Darwish. I live on North Cow Creek, which gets cold flows coming down off Lassen in the winter at night. The frosts kill my basil deader than fried chicken—literally flattens it. I'm also forever bitter that our hard frosts kill any citrus I put in the ground.
Other than basil (which hates the winter), I find that everything thrives in my herb raised bed as perennials. I did get rid of the mint because it tends to crowd out everything else, especially if it gets enough water. My oregano has jumped the box and is now growing all across the back yard […]
