Redding League of Women Voters Thanks State Assembly Candidates

The League of Women Voters® of the Redding Area would like to thank the five candidates running for the vacant State Assembly, District 1 seat and the over 100 attendees at the recent candidate forum in Redding for their respectful and informative participation in this event. Many topics were covered including the funding of public schools, mental health and addiction services and unfunded liabilities, along with the views of the candidates on global warming, gun control, high rates of poverty in California, Schools and Communities First Proposition, water issues, renewable energy and helping children who are dealing with special issues. We would recommend that anyone unable to view the forum live go to this Shasta Community Access Channels (SCAC) link to see the entire forum.

We would also like to express our appreciation to Mike Flanagan and his crew at the SCAC for setting up, publicizing and recording the event and our moderator, Susan Wilson, for her superb skill in squeezing in as many questions as possible in a limited time. And finally, a big thank you to the many League members who assisted with the forum.

Don’t forget to VOTE in the August 27th election! Each vote is important and counts.
