Letter to the Editor: What’s going on with Biomass Plants?

Dead forest morguefile

Dear Editor:

Can someone please tell me what is going on here? Our local biomass plant is threatened with closure and layoffs, the forest is filled with dead and dying trees and our economy is faltering. The only local representative who seems to be doing anything is Assemblyman Brian Dahle, whose bill to subsidize biomass has stalled in the state legislature. Meanwhile, can someone also tell me why the county planning commission has just approved another biomass installation on property owned by the nephew of our sitting county Supervisor? We need to keep the jobs we have, clear our forests of infested trees to prevent future severe wildfires like the Eiler Fire.
