Sheriff Tom Bosenko has declared a local emergency due to the Eiler Fire. The fire has destroyed over 7000 acres and multiple structures. Evacuations are currently in progress in the communities of Hat Creek, Cassel, Big Eddy Estates, and Johnson Park. The residents of Burney are being advised to prepare and be ready to evacuate once an evacuation order is given. The fire is moving quickly. Residents of these areas must take these preparatory advisements for evacuation seriously. Persons withdisabilities, or others, may wish to evacuate voluntarily in advance.
Sheriff Bosenko will present a request for local emergency declaration ratification by the Shasta County Board of Supervisors on or before Tuesday, August 5, 2014.
