The Eiler Fire is currently burning in the area of Hat Creek and continues to burn at a moderate rate of growth in a northerly direction. With fire behavior being unpredictable, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office is exercising the upmost caution as it relates to public safety. In doing so, the Sheriff’s Office intends to keep its citizens apprised of the current fire situation to minimize any potential threats or dangers.
At this time, the Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the residents of Burney of the proper preparations to take should the need for evacuations arise.
• Keep water on.
• Turn gas off.
• Secure residence.
• Gather necessary medications.
• Collect all important documents.
• Take your cell phone and charger.
• Notify a family member or friend of your destination.
Should the need for evacuations arise, the Sheriff’s Office is working in partnership with the Red Cross and has identified Foothill High School as an evacuation center. The most expeditious route for Burney residents to take will be west on Hwy 299 and then south on Deschutes Road.
