Kids Cooking Classes Offered at Farmers Market Again Today

Children are invited to participate in hands-on “make and take” cooking activities at the Redding Certified Farmers Market at the Healthy Shasta booth, adjacent to the Farm Club booth at the market’s new location on the south side of Redding City Hall.’s own Doni Chamberlain will teach the kids cooking classes at Healthy Shasta Food Activity booth today, June 7, as well as June 14.

Today’s class teaches how to make fresh fruit, yogurt and granola parfaits.  

Cypress School students participate in the first in a series of kids cooking classes where they learned how to make fresh spring rolls.

Children will have more opportunities to enjoy healthy cooking demonstrations and classes at the Healthy Shasta Food Activity booth through June. 

The classes are free, and open from 9 to 11 a.m. for interested young chefs to drop by and learn how to prepare healthy, delicious food, much of which is available for sale at the Farmers Market. 

Note: The original Kids Cooking Class series was scheduled for Saturday mornings at Cypress Elementary School, but were relocated to the Farmers Market.
