On 4/15/2012 at approximately 1335 hours staff at the Shasta County Jail discovered an inmate had attempted suicide in his cell. Life saving efforts were begun and medical personnel were summoned. The subject was transported to a local hospital where he is in critical condition. Shasta counties Multi Agency Critical Incident Protocol was activated and personnel from the Shasta County District Attorneys Office as well as Redding Police Department and the Shasta County Sheriffs Office are investigating the incident.
