The Root Theatre Script Party: M Ibrahim & Flowers of the Koran

The Root’s script party has outgrown its previous location but there’s still no admission fee for a night of fine wine, beer and food as The Root Theatre reads from another potential project.

Socializing starts at 6pm with the play at 7. Afterwards, join in the discussion.

Made possible by the support of MD Imaging. Feel free to bring friends, family and others.

On a street called Blue in a very poor neighborhood in Paris, Monsieur Ibrahim is an old Muslim Turkish owner of a small market. He befriends the Jewish teenager Moises, tenderly nicknamed Momo, who lives with his father in a small apartment on the other side of the street. Monsieur Ibrahim gives paternal love and teaches the knowledge of the Qur’an to the boy.

This is very, very out of character for me to respond to you comment. In fact I don’t know why I am doing this and may regret it! ?

However, you stirred something in me; and I want to help you.

What you just wrote DID feel To ME like Hate speech….so, sorry, that is where I am coming from.

I am worried about responding to you because I have seen it on the Record Searchlight page where all strangers start arguing about very intricate subjects (anonymously) and get off-topic and ruin the comments section…..

I don’t want to do that. I do however want to reach out to you. I am sorry for the wars overseas and the children we have lost from the violence and politics involved. I have a different viewpoint from you because I do not believe our war is with the Koran…..and I think I might differ from you because I don’t believe in “the Bible” any more than I do the Koran.

But I think I am a good person, I am honest, and nonviolent, and free thinking, and live to serve the people my life touches.

I want to invite to see this play with me. I will pay your way. I will buy you a cheap dinner after where we can discuss how our perceptions of the world might have changed, or will change because we opened each of our minds to a message that does not directly align with what we have already decided.

Dear Mr. RVM: Are you up for this? (It is on me…..Really……..we just might have fun!!)

If you aren’t up for open-minded exchange of ideas ……I think you should quit commenting because you might just be negative, closed minded and intent on bringing this site down.

This is what great art does. Makes the brain work. This is the Koran of which you speak but a different branch of the religion.

It is a FREE event so all it costs is the time to attend and the strength to open ones mind.

There is lots of misunderstanding regarding the Muslim faith and we hope you will come and be entertained at the very least.

I found the play very moving and hope others will as well. We have one of the arwas best actors, Dean Williams, in the title role.

    See you tonight I hope.

    Cheers!

    Mike

I had hoped to meet you all tonight but sadly no. I guess this town is afraid of Sufi Muslims? Or maybe Jews as they are the other religion mentioned? Maybe next time we should just read from the christian holy bible? Feel free to advise.

SORRY I WAS AWAY, AND WAS NOT ABLE TO READ YOUR RESPONSE UNTIL NOW. 🙂 AS I STATED, I "AM NOT" A HATER, I FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT THE CHRISTIAN "BIBLES"! TOO MANY INTERPRETATIONS OF THE WORD OF "GOD"!

AS I STATED, I HOPE IT WAS INFORMATIVE FOR ALL THOSE WHO ATTENDED, AND AS FAR AS ME NOT COMMENTING ON THIS SIGHT ABOUT "WHATEVER" I WANT TO, YOU MIGHT JUST BE OUT OF LUCK. I LOVE THIS SIGHT AND THE PEOPLE THAT CREATED IT, AND TO "MIKE ESPECIALLY", I FEAR "NO MORTAL MAN", and WHO MENTIONED THE WORD JEWS?

I NEED NO MORTAL TO REACH OUT TO ME, I NEED NO ONE TO PAY MY WAY, I DID NOT MAKE A SPEECH, AND I WILL NOT CONTINUE TO RESPOND TO ANYMORE OF THIS NONSENSE. YOU "DO NOT" HAVE A CORNER ON BEING A

GOOD MAN, BEING NON VIOLENT, HONEST, ECT! GOD BLESS YOU 🙂
