Redding Man Arrested, Confesses to Sandwich Shop Robbery

On Tuesday, 8/16/11, at 10:11 p.m., Redding Police officers responded to the Best Little Sandwich Shop at 2225 Eureka Way in Redding on a report of an armed robbery that just occurred. An employee reported that a black male adult wearing a red bandana robbed the business at gunpoint. Officers observed a vehicle with a subject matching the description of the suspect in the robbery driving in the area just after the robbery occurred. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and one of the occupants fled. The subject was apprehended and was identified as Nathan Laprell Gibson, 21 years, of Redding. Officers located clothing inside the vehicle similar to the clothing worn during the robbery.

Gibson was placed under arrest and confessed to committing the robbery. A search warrant was served at Gibson’s residence in the 1000 block of Olive Avenue in Redding. During the service of the search warrant, items of evidence, including the handgun used during the commission of the robbery, were located.

Gibson was booked into the Shasta County Jail on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and obstructing officers.
