The College of the Siskiyous (COS) announces a variety of short-term enrichment events and seminars as community education classes, set to begin this month.

- Belly Dancing I

Class will meet on Tuesday evenings from 4:30 to 6 p.m. beginning August 16 and ending October 4 at the Weed Campus in the Theater Building room 4. Learn warm-up exercises, how to use finger cymbals and veils, and dances to traditional and modern music. All ages and levels of ability are welcome. Denise Mannion is the instructor. Cost to participate is $32.
- Italian for Travelers

This class will be held at the Weed Campus in McCloud Hall room 4-112 beginning Tuesday, August 16 and will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. until October 4. Learn about the sound system, basic survival phrases, and cultural traditions in Italy. Fernanda Mugnolo is the instructor. Cost to participate is $45.
- Community Fitness Workout

Get a workout consisting of a weight circuit, group calisthenics, core work, and stretching. This class will meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4:30 to 5:20 p.m. in the Weed Campus Weight Room beginning August 22 and continuing until October 10. Mike Read is the instructor. Cost to participate is 30.
- Big Band Fun

Rehearsal and performance of a Big Band production. Includes auditioning, rehearsing, and performing music of the Big Band era. This class will meet Monday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. in Yreka at the High School in the Band Room beginning August 22 and ending December 12. Clarence Barger is the instructor. Cost to participate is $36.
- Crater Lake Field Geology

This class will explore the caldera that formed when Mount Mazama erupted catastrophically 7,700 years ago, and give students an opportunity to take the lake tour if they wish (additional fee). Class will meet on August 26 and 27. Bill Hirt is the instructor. Cost to participate is $49.
