Man Severely Injured After Jumping From Mental Health Roof

On Thursday August 11th, at 11:18 p.m. Shasta County Mental Health workers at 2640 Breslauer Lane reported two clients at the facility became involved in a verbal dispute. Both were there on a voluntary basis. One of the men became angry and he left the facility, stating he was going to kill himself. Police were called and responded immediately.

Prior to police arriving, the man located a service stairway leading to a second level rooftop. Before employees could intervene, the man jumped off the roof onto the concrete parking lot.

The fall severely injured the subject, including his legs and lower back. He remained conscious, however. He was transported to Mercy Medical Center by ambulance for treatment of his injuries. A mental health hold was initiated. His name is not eligible for release.
