On July 22, 2011, Investigators with the Redding Police Department arrested Brandon James Vaira, 27 years of Redding, Ca. in connection with the armed robbery that occurred at 536 E. Cypress Ave. (Vagabond Inn) on July 1, 2011.
After the arrest of Brandon Vaira, Investigators responded to the 2900 block of Seminole Dr. Redding, Ca. to serve a search warrant on Brandon Vaira’s residence. During the service of the search warrant Investigators located items of evidence connecting Brandon Vaira to the robbery including the firearm used and fired during the robbery.
After Brandon Vaira’s arrest he was interviewed regarding his involvement in the robbery. During the interview Brandon Vaira confessed to the robbery and assault of the victim Albert Palen, 47 years of Milwaukie Oregon. The investigation is still continuing and a third subject is still being sought for questioning.
During this investigation Investigators also arrested Virgle David Mitchell 26 years of Redding, Ca. for an unrelated stalking charge being investigated by the Shasta County District Attorney Investigations Division.
Brandon Vaira was booked into the Shasta County Jail for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon (firearm), felon in possession of a firearm, committing a felony while out on bail, inflicting great bodily injury during the commission of a felony, assault with great bodily injury and felon in possession of ammunition.
Virgle Mitchell was booked into the Shasta County Jail for stalking.
