Redding Police Ask for Help Locating Kids’ Kingdom Attempted Robber

On Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at approximately 4:12 p.m., Redding Police officers were dispatched to an attempted strong arm robbery at the women’s restroom near the children’s water fountain at Kid’s Kingdom, 4004 Victor Ave. in Redding.

At approximately 4:17 p.m. officers arrived at the location and contacted the victim, Kimberly Anne Maher, age 29 of Redding. Officers learned Maher had gone into a bathroom stall inside the women’s restroom with her purse over her shoulder. Maher had her back to the bathroom stall door when the suspect opened the door and pushed Maher toward the wall. The suspect grabbed the victim’s purse strap and pulled forcefully on the strap but failed to remove the purse. The suspect ran out of the bathroom, without the purse, toward the hockey arena and soccer fields.

Maher described the suspect has being either a black or Hispanic male in his 30s, last seen wearing tan cargo shorts.

A search for the suspect by officers and the California Highway Patrol helicopter failed to locate the suspect at this time.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Redding Police Department Investigations Division at (530) 225-4214.
