What: Medford Beer Week

Celebrating an American tradition that began in 1587 when Virginia colonists brewed ale using corn, the first-ever Medford Beer Week will take place from Sunday (June 12) through Saturday, June 18.
Throughout the week, dozens of beer tasting and special events will be held at restaurants and bars in Medford’s Old Town Dining and Entertainment District. The week concludes June 18 with the 3rd Annual Beerfest, a day-long festival that focuses exclusively on Southern Oregon craft brewers.
Oregon is considered the craft-brewing capital of America and world class beers are brewed throughout the state. Medford is also home to numerous restaurants and bars whose owners understand the importance of quality beer and who care about the beer and food they serve. Medford Beer Week (medfordbeerweek.com) will showcase this passion for beer and celebrate the art of craft brewing.
“It’s great to have a new city event, especially one that highlights craft brewing and the amazing number of restaurants and entertainment venues we have in downtown,” states Anne Jenkins, senior vice president of the Medford Visitors & Convention Bureau.
The closing event, officially called the Southern Oregon Craft Brew Festival, will be a day-long Beerfest focusing exclusively on 15 local breweries. The festival will run from noon until 8 pm on Bartlett Street in Medford. (Bartlett runs between Central and Riverside; the festival will be between Main Street and the parking garage.) Tickets cost $10 per person and include five tastings. Additional samples cost $1.50 each. Food and music will also be part of the fun. For more information visit www.socbrewfest.com.
“Many know about the wineries of our region,” explains event organizer Chris Dennett. “We hope Beer Week and the Craft Brew Festival will generate more attention to our local craft brewers and their quality beers.”
