Tasting local wines, nibbling artisan cheese and listening to two local bands is all you need to do this weekend to help 90 kids have an outdoor education and adventure this summer. So ‘Get Outta Town’ for a drive to Trinity County and take in the 4th annual Hayfork Wine and Cheese Gala to benefit the Indian Valley Summer Camp.
The Watershed Research and Training Center’s work begins with the region’s youth; the group conducts forest fuel reduction and restoration, restores the watershed in the South Fork of the Trinity River, advises local and regional community planning, monitors the environment and advocates for rural communities. The Indian Valley Summer Camp, a free outdoor adventure experience for Trinity youth, is made possible by donations and grants and is an important part of the Center’s mission.
The Camp teaches kids, ages eight to 15, about stewardship, the environment and career opportunities in conservation. The two-week camp sessions include activities that feature natural resource topics, team-building, arts and crafts, swimming, nutrition, local history and community service. Each session ends with a rafting trip down the Trinity River.
Join Hayfork Rotary and The Watershed Research and Training Center for an evening of music, wine and cheese to raise money for the Indian Valley Summer Camp. In addition to the food and entertainment, the evening will also include live and silent auctions and a complementary wine glass.
Enjoy wine from Alpen Cellars, Butter Creek Ranch Winery, Dogwood Estate Winery, Dubakella Winery, One Maple Winery, Meredith Family Vineyards and Vecchio Rosso Winery, plus cheese by Cypress Grove Chevre, Loleta Cheese Factory and Whirligoat Farms. Live music by The Mostly Stringband and Sabor.
