Does climate change threaten California’s giant sequoias? An award-winning forestry professor tackles that question tonight at Turtle Bay Exploration Park, then leads a field trip on Saturday to examine some of the giant trees. And it’s all FREE.
Dr. Bill Libby, a professor emeritus of forestry at UC-Berkeley, speaks at 7 p.m. at the Turtle Bay visitors center theater. People who attend the talk will be given maps so they can attend the field trip as well. On Saturday, Libby will lead the group to Lassen National Forest to see sequoias planted more than 30 years ago to determine how the trees would fare in a different climate.
Today, Libby is in Sacramento, picking up the Francis Raymond Award, the state’s highest honor for foresters.

- We like to patronize the companies that advertise with us, so Kelly and I went to lunch yesterday at the new Pasta Pronto, on Hilltop next to Chuck E. Cheese. Good food. Fast, friendly service. Using the coupon from our ad, we both ate for $11.72. And neither of us could finish our lunches, so we took doggie bags to our teen-age son. Three meals for less than 12 bucks!
