What: “Writing Mistakes That Keep Writers From Getting Published.” Publishers and editors are willing to take a chance on a new writer, but they are leery when style errors send a message that the writer is an amateur. By identifying common style errors, this program will help attendees move their writing from ordinary to memorable.

When: Oct. 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Where: In the Community Room at the Redding Library, to the left just inside the front door. The library is located near the Redding City Hall and South City Park at 1100 Parkview Ave.

Presenter: Nora Profit. Award-winning journalist, feature writer, columnist, and editor, Profit’s books include “10 Glaring Mistakes Amateur Writers Make and How to Avoid Them,” “The Ultimate Novel Writing Workbook,” and numerous how-to booklets on the craft of writing. She is the creator and owner of The Writing Loft, northern California’s only creative writing school. She has been a featured author in “Chicken Soup for the Writer’s Soul” and “Chicken Soup: Living your Dreams.”

The public is always welcome to attend. Admission is free. Donations are requested only at the refreshment table.
