Today we meet Linda Schroeder, manager of the newly opened Peddlers Mall antique store in Redding, in the former Miller Auto location.

Q: Can you give us a little background about it?Â
The idea to open an antique store came from Pam Miller – the owner – Â who asked me to manage it.
Q: How many square feet does Peddlers Mall have, with how many vendors?
The mall is 16,000 square feet with an additional 4,000 sq. feet available for expansion and we currently have approx. 25-30 vendors. Most of them are well known and respected in Northern California.
Q: When I visited your store, you said you wanted your place known as Redding’s finest antique mall. What did you mean, and how do you plan on making good on that goal?
Now to your most important question: How do I plan on making this the finest Antique Mall in Northern California? First and foremost: Quality merchandise!! No reproductions!!! We are privileged in that we can offer Museum quality merchandise in quantity.
I am also in the process of arranging for our first collection of fine art from listed artists. This is going to be the beginning of an art gallery which I’m planning on installing in the expansion. We are planning for an on-going series of lectures and Q & A’s by authors who are specialists in their particular field of collecting and antiques.
Q: What will people find inside the Peddlers Mall that might surprise them?
Surprises: there will be many!! Where else can you go to find Ming Dynasty porcelains? A tomb dog from the time of Christ?? SEVERAL paintings by the last Dowager Empress of China?? Vintage Doepke in mint condition? Since you were here last, we have also installed a gift shop to make it more a one-stop shopping experience. Our customers constantly compliment us on the lay-out of the store, the wide, comfortable aisles and that they can easily access all the merchandise without being in fear if knocking something down.
Q: What do you say to those who point out the presence of another antique mall, Oregon Street Antiques, just a few blocks away?
Having Oregon Street Antique Mall within walking distance is a blessing! Customers prefer to have two large and diverse stores so close to each other. We are constantly sending them customers!
