I can’t believe I forgot to click on the Grocery Outlet Bargain Store’s online ad and print out its $5-off coupon for customers who spend $50 or more before I went shopping Monday. Right now when you click on the GO ad you’ll see the specials that run from March 11 through the 18.
After March 18 the $5-off-$50 coupon will appear again.
It was easy to spend $50. Twice, even.
For example, I found J. Jill tank tops for $5.99, and Disney brand T-shirts for $9.99 (elsewhere $20).
I also found greeting cards, soap, a new can opener (my old one died) and a new stainless steel colander, and lots of food and wine.
Speaking of wine, once a month I’ll write about my favorite GO wine pick. By the way, have you ever heard the Redding story about people who buy wine at the GO, then rush to their cars to sample a bunch of bottles from the parking lot – just enough to taste and figure out which ones they should run back into the store and buy by the case?
I’ve heard that story but always figured it was an exaggeration.
Guess what? I asked Ron Davis (Sr. & Jr.) about it, and they said the story’s true.
But I digress.
For this week’s pick I selected an old favorite delicious bargain: President’s brand Mini Brie – Double Creme. The GO sells 1 pound of this brie for $2.99, while elsewhere it sells for around $6.99. It’s really a good deal.
Brie’s great on crackers, but my favorite thing to do with it is spread it on slices of French or Italian bread, broil it a little, then serve it as an appetizer or float it in soup.
Did I mention that I spent $109.78 this week at GO?
I saved $139.91.
That’s my kind of math.
