Information will be provided on various topics including details of the Ponderosa Fire, Fuels Treatments and Preparations for the Next Disaster as well as technical and cost share programs available to aid in recovery of wildfire impacted lands.

Information provided will primarily include watershed protection needs relating to the Battle Creek Salmon and Steelhead Restoration Project, erosion control methods and other technical assistance as well as cost share programs available to aid in the recovery of wildfire impacted lands.
Additionally, the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has just announced a Fire Recovery Initiative through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) that may help qualifying landowners who have grazing land or non-industrial private forestlands that were adversely affected by the recent fires. The Initiative is intended to provide immediate resource protection in those areas burned during the 2012 wildfires. This initiative is of limited scope and will address only immediate resource concerns such as erosion protection, adequate livestock water, and habitat protection. Longer term resource concerns such as reforestation cannot be addressed through the Fire Recovery Initiative however; participants interested in implementing practices beyond the scope of this special and limited initiative are encouraged to apply for regular EQIP funding opportunities. More information about NRCS programs will be available at the public meetings referenced above or via the CA NRCS website at http://www.ca.nrcs.usda.gov/.
