Last week’s rumor said Governor Schwarzenegger would visit a Wednesday Redding Rotary meeting.
Although Schwarzenegger is no stranger to the north state, Rotary members were all a’twitter at the prospect of seeing him. I even had an invitation to attend as the guest of a Rotarian.
Alas, he didn’t make it; something about a budget meeting that kept him away.
Do over.
Schwarzenegger is scheduled for a guest appearance in Redding today to discuss the state budget and answer questions from Rotarians.
Space will be limited, so only Rotarians who got their names added to a list will be granted entrance.
Schwarzenegger obviously likes coming to Redding, and that’s nice. However, two things would be even nicer:
1. I’d love to see our governor make himself available to the masses to talk and answer citizens’ questions. I’m thinking the Shasta District Fairgrounds, since that would probably hold the most people.
2. But even more than that, I’m such a fan of the incredible success of the north state’s Crystal Creek Regional Boys Camp that I’ve wished ever since Schwarzenegger took office that he’d tour Crystal Creek.
If he did, I think our governor would be so impressed with it that he might consider implementing Crystal Creek’s methods to other correction facilities, for both youth and adults.
I feel so strongly about this that I’ll bake my famous flourless chocolate cake topped with chocolate leaves for any Rotarian who convinces Schwarzenegger to visit Crystal Creek.
