If a house is without power, but there’s no way to phone PG&E to report the outage, is my power still off?
Yes. But we’re not alone. More than 1,000 Redding area north state homes remain powerless. And PG&E reports that recent storms robbed 2.3 million homes and businesses of power. We in the remote areas may not have power restored until Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Boo hoo.
I won’t take it personally that much of Igo has power, yet Greenberg Acres doesn’t. We’ll survive. We have a generator that we plug in a few hours a day to feed precious electricity to key places: the freezer, the refrigerator and a living room floor lamp that now stands tall in a most silly way on my kitchen island.
Fortunately, we can use our propane fireplaces and cook tops. Unfortunately, our spanking new wireless Internet service doesn’t work without electricity.
Bad timing for this new Web site’s maiden voyage. We’re still relying upon friends’ kindness and wireless.
