
The North Valley Art League will host acclaimed artist Derek Grinnell at his Retrospective Exhibition presented from June 3 to June 27 at the League’s Carter House Gallery at 48 Quartz Hill Road in Redding. The NVAL gallery is located in Caldwell Park.
Born and educated in London, England, Grinnell has spent a lifetime as a professional illustrator and fine art painter, earning national and international recognition for his work. His distinctive use of pen and ink, watercolor, gouache, and mixed media has resulted in a remarkable body of work spanning decades and is held in collections throughout the world. He is an internationally prominent illustrator and fine arts painter known for his colorful and detailed canvases. In his career as an illustrator, his work has been featured in several map books, in paintings of Air Force personnel and planes for the Pentagon art collection in Washington, D.C., and in many magazines, including Saturday Evening Post, Time, and Reader’s Digest. He has won many national and international awards.
This special retrospective offers a unique opportunity to experience the breadth of Grinnell’s artistic journey and hear firsthand during an artist talk about his career.
Grinnell’s exhibition and presentation is free and open to the public. The opening reception will take place on Friday, June 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. Grinnell’s artist talk will begin at 6 p.m.
