Stack the deck in your favor this summer by taking family and friends to see the Shasta College summer musical, “Guys and Dolls.” This classic comedy will have everyone tapping their toes, and laughing out loud from the on-stage antics of a show that’s won numerous awards, including TONY Awards, Drama Desks, and Oliviers. A huge cast of over 30 accomplished North State actors, singers, and dancers will bring the music and lyrics of Frank Loesser to life with performances designed for the entire family!
Evening performances run at 7:00 p.m. on July 18, 19, 23, 24, 25, and 26, with 2:00 p.m. matinée shows on July 20 and 27. The show on the evening of July 24 will feature live ASL interpretation as part of an ongoing collaboration with Shasta College’s American Sign Language staff. Tickets are an incredibly low price of just $5 for all audiences, making this an affordable and entertaining night out for the whole family!
“Guys and Dolls” tells the story of Nathan Detroit, a gambler looking to set up the largest craps game in New York City while evading the bumbling efforts of the local authorities, and his girlfriend, Adelaide, who is becoming more and more insistent on marriage after their fourteenth year of engagement. When Detroit turns to fellow gambler Sky Masterson for cash to support the game, he in turn must pursue Sarah Brown, a straightlaced missionary; numerous musical high jinks ensue. Frank Loesser’s immortal songs and the fast-paced, wisecracking comedy of Swerling & Burrows’ script make for a crowd-pleasing time at the theatre that’s suitable for the whole family.
