Shasta College invites all singers, dancers, and actors to audition for the Summer 2025 musical production of Guys and Dolls, with performances scheduled for July 18–27, 2025, at the Shasta College Theatre. Auditions will take place on December 9 and 10, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in the Shasta College Theatre (building 500), and are open to students and community members of all ages.
Widely celebrated as one of the greatest musical comedies of all time, Guys and Dolls is based upon the stories of the incomparable Damon Runyon, with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and a book by Joe Swerling and Abe Burrows. Since its 1950 Broadway debut, the show has enjoyed critical acclaim and numerous revivals. Set in a fictional New York City, this classic musical follows the antics of gamblers, showgirls, and missionaries, delivering memorable performances filled with humor, romance, and show-stopping numbers.
Audition Details
Auditions will be held on December 9 and 10 at 6:00 p.m., in the Shasta College theatre (building 500). Auditions are open to students and interested community members of all ages. Interested parties should arrive with the following:
- A one-minute comedic monologue, memorized.
- A musical excerpt from Guys and Dolls, also memorized. For assistance with sheet music, email dfitzgerald@shastacollege.edu.
- Comfortable clothing suitable for movement (leggings, bike shorts, jazz shoes, or sneakers) for the dance portion of the audition.
Rehearsals will begin on June 9, 2025, and a detailed schedule will be provided to those cast. The production promises to be a fun and enriching experience for all involved.

Guys and Dolls is a musical fable of Broadway, based on the story and characters by Damon Runyon. Set in a mythical 1920-30’s New York City, “Guys and Dolls” is an oddball romantic comedy with gangsters, gamblers, girlfriends and one strait-laced missionary the combination of which gives rise to plenty of laughs and memorable musical numbers.
