Shasta County Hitting Fever Pitch as Election Approaches

The beauty of being an anonymous fake-journalist living among the fake “citizen journalists,” the self-appointed “experts,” the politicians, the public officials, and regular folk with interesting observations? People talk to me much more freely.

Out of respect for the people who view me as a confidant or friend, I will paint in broad strokes. There’s exasperation in the air. Locals want fairness to matter again, for life to just make good sense again, and for the protracted political battles in our midst to STOP. For every person you see outwardly expressing opinions of frustration with our local political climate, there are many more who remain quiet. Why? They don’t want to add political disputes to their daily routine. They don’t want vindictive bosses and angry friends/family. They don’t want to live the stories playing out on our news cycles. Many of them are hoping things will just calm down without really affecting them.

But these masses of quieter folk ARE watching. You probably know people who know that Tina Peters was sentenced to 9 years in prison. This stemmed from her conduct back in 2020 involving her using an innocent elections office employee’s security badge to sneak into the elections office with an outsider named Conan Hayes and giving him access to their voting machines. This former pro surfer got a little pilled, started up an anonymous social media account, connected up with another pilled county political figure (and Mike Lindell) and cooked up an asinine scheme. Sound like anything you’ve seen locally? Imagine how they’d scream about this one if the political parties were reversed. That kind of thing couldn’t possibly happen here in Shasta County, ri—

Maybe Laura Hobbs ought to explain exactly what she meant by “took a peek.”

Steve Umfleet seems to have kept a lower profile until recently. In addition to this event, Umfleet addressed the farcical Shasta Elections Commission Majority to fuel their next call for the county to violate state law.

He also testified unconvincingly at Laura Hobbs’ failed hearing trying to keep alive her “I-refuse-to-lose” lawsuit against the county she hoped to help run. So the voters told her ‘no,’ the Shasta County courthouse told her ‘no,’ the appeals court told her ‘no,’ and when she fought that appeal being tossed almost immediately, they basically responded with a ‘did we stutter?’ reiteration that the appeal was dead in the water.

Seeing how Hobbs has remained on the delusional warpath for months now, it’s hardly surprising that she’d be so connected to someone claiming he may have insider knowledge about our elections system. I have met Laura Hobbs in person, and I can give a full-throated ‘endorsement’ as follows: that woman needs a doctor, not a badge that lets her access county property after hours.

Yoo-hoo, my local officials who DO deserve their badges: you busy? Can you uh… look into this please? Like, maybe now-o’clock? Not multiple years from now? I don’t know who the possible fox-in-the-henhouse might be, but as far as I can tell, there are only a handful of individuals named “Steve Umfleet” in the country, there is only one “Steve Umfleet” even living in California, and that person has never had an address in Shasta County. I highly doubt any person by that name works for the elections office and such a person certainly shouldn’t be “taking a peek” into our local election machines. Do supervisor badges get you into the Registrar of Voters office? If so, I have some theories…

And let’s make a full-circle connection real quick. Who was Steve Umfleet talking to at the Shasta Elections Commissions Board? Patty Plumb, who wants to see parts of Northern California, including Shasta County, secede from California and become New California/Jefferson/a MAGA dystopia?

Patty Plumb encouraged people to caravan in support of Tina Peters and specifically mentioned David Bryan, who traveled all the way from Yuba City to personally attend Tina Peters’ sentencing and asked the judge to send her to Northern California instead, so she could “serve her time” at here in Northern California. He specifically mentioned his same church where Patty Plumb wanted to send this “caravan” to support her. Patty Plumb, who continues to advocate for the same election denier conspiracy theories today.

Notice how loudly they are not talking about any of this?

Maybe Steve Umfleet is stepping up now that Dr. Doug Frank watched Tina Peters get her nine years without a magnetic mattress. Frank also testified at Tina Peters’ sentencing to parrot the same conspiracy theories he shared with her that helped get her into this mess and resulted in a warrant being seized on his phone in connection with the Colorado elections investigation. It played more like an advertisement for disinformation than a plea for leniency. He might as well have showed up and said, “what crime? You’re a crime!” to the person who had Ms. Peters’ fate in his hands. Dr. Frank (…what is with these doctors? Dr. Hobbs, Dr. Dhanuka… is Dr. Kevorkian next? No wonder so many of these people don’t have any trust in even basic medical science or reason considering the allies they have collected that happen to wear this title) has also showed up to Shasta County several times, much to the joy of our local election deniers.

And speaking of election deniers/fellow warrant recipients, this incestuous circle couldn’t be complete without MyPillow CEO (or whatever title his financial situation amounts to nowadays) Mike Lindell.

You know, the same Mike Lindell who the almost-recalled District 1 Supervisor Kevin Crye reached out to and personally visited thinking he was gonna “save our elections” until he just didn’t do anything at all (at least anything above-board, or we would have heard about it, probably at great length, from Kevin Crye’s board reports, his live videos, his radio show, his coffees, or any other opportunity to hear himself talk). That same Mike Lindell who was one of the main influences and beneficiaries of the Tina Peters election office caper.

I wonder how long it will be before we read about Mike Lindell denying knowledge of Kevin Crye’s activities like he did when asked to comment about his connections with Tina Peters.

So I’ll say it one more time for those in the back of the room. Are you busy, investigators? I’m pretty determined and decent at making connections, so if this is a time constraint issue, let me know and I’ll do some more legwork.

Elections matter, respect for the bounds of a functional society matter, and this isn’t a small issue. Go ahead and stay quiet, but if you have the power to do something before more damage is done, please, let your actions speak louder than words.
