Joanna Francescut, Assistant Shasta County Clerk and Registrar of Voters wishes to inform the public and the media of a voter requested recount that will begin at 9am on Monday April 9, 2024 at 1643 Market St, Redding CA 96001.
The tentative breakdown of the schedule will be as follows:

9am – 11am Relevant Material Review
Pulling Batches for Recount
11am – 12:30pm Recount Training for Observers and Recount Volunteers
12:30 – 1:15pm Lunch
1:15 – 4:15 Recount
Tuesday, April 9, 2024
8:15am – 4:15pm Recount
10am Break
12:30pm – 1:15pm Lunch
2:30pm Break
Candidates for that contest may choose representatives to participate as observers for the recount.
The estimated cost for the first day of the recount is $8626.67.
The initial preparation for these recounts will start on 9 a.m. on April 8, 2024, and includes the discussion and review of all relevant material that may be available pursuant to state law, appointment of representatives and volunteers, and preparation of the ballots and supplies. There will be a lunch break from 12:30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. and actual counting will start at 1:15 p.m. and stop at 4:15 p.m.
Once the recount begins on April 8, 2024, it will continue at least 6 hours a day each business day until the recount is completed.
Counting of the recount will continue until there are no more votes to count, the requester calls a halt to the recount, or the requester fails to deposit the required amount.
