Current Situation:

• Shasta County has 1 new positive case. The patient is a man in his 20s with symptoms. He recently attended a large family gathering, so nearly 20 people have been quarantined as a result of this case, several of whom also have symptoms and will be tested.

• If you are ill, please stay home. Symptoms can include cough, fever, chills, muscle pain, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, sore throat, and new loss of taste or smell. This is an important component of disease control.

• Many new businesses are now allowed to open due to newly released guidance. Find the press release at www.ShastaReady.org – click on “Current News.”

• People do not need to have symptoms of COVID-19 to spread the virus. Wearing face coverings in public, practicing social distancing, washing hands frequently and avoiding travel are some of the ways we can all help protect our vulnerable neighbors and slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

• Testing options are increasing in Shasta County. Testing for people with symptoms will now be available weekly in the Intermountain area, alternating between Burney and Fall River Mills. On Thursday, June 18, mobile testing will be in Burney, and the following Thursday, June 25, it will be in Fall River Mills. Make an appointment by calling (530) 225-5591.

• Anyone can be tested for COVID-19. If you have symptoms, contact your healthcare provider or call (530) 225-5591. People with or without symptoms can sign up for testing at Shasta College by going to https://lhi.care/covidtesting. Appointments are required.
