Thanks, Robert. Since I lived through the era, I look forward to seeing it.

Christian Bale has an excellent chance of winning the Oscar. He was the best thing about the movie. He was Dick Cheney throughout. His impersonation of another person was the best I’ve ever seen. Rami Malek was pretty darn good, and I thought he was going to win when I saw him as Freddie. But Rami wasn’t Freddie throughout. Christian Bale is incredible. He had the voice, facial expressions, body walk and movements down. And he gave me insight into Cheney’s mind. Of course, that last statement tosses me into the mixture of the focus group. Who knows what you can believe in politics except those who are actually making the decisions. Anyway … Christian Bale definitely put his whole heart and sole into creating the character of Dick Cheney.

Great review Robert. Initially, I imagined from your review that the movie would make more sense to an older person, but you made the great point that a movie should reach everyone: the people who followed the news during this time, and the people who weren’t around to experience it.
