“Battle of the North 3.0” VEX Robotics Competition

High School students in the Northern California Region will descend upon Shasta High School on November 3rd, 2018 from 9 AM to 5 PM for the “Battle of the North 3.0” VEX Robotics Competition. A total of 25 high school teams will be represented from Shasta, Enterprise, Foothill, Anderson, Central Valley, Ukiah High School, Santa Clara, Yuba City, Inspire School of Arts and Sciences, Shasta Charter Academy, Fall River, and Dunsmuir. The community is invited to attend this FREE, family-friendly event. The teams will compete against each other using robots created from VEX Robotics components and software for education called VEX EDR.

Participants will square off in the VEX Robotics Competition game of Turning Point. The object of the game is to attain a higher score than the opposing Alliance by High Scoring or Low Scoring Caps, Toggling Flags, and by Alliance Parking or Center Parking Robots on platforms. This game was developed by VEX Robotics, Inc. and the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, also known as REC, who are leaders in educational and competitive robotics. The top teams from this competition will have an opportunity to advance to the California State competition in the spring, with the chance of competing in the Vex Robotics World Championship in April 2019.

This event is a joint venture of Shasta High School and Shasta College. Shasta College received a grant, focused on the advanced manufacturing sector, from the California Community College, Doing What Matters initiative, a portion of which sponsored VEX Robotics kits and a regional league for local high schools to inspire and strengthen their robotics programs.
