On September 15th, 2017, around 1:00 p.m., Mr. Carlin was located by staff from Shasta Estates. Mr. Carlin was uninjured and returned to his room at the facility. The Redding Police Department would like to thank everyone who assisted with searching for Mr. Carlin.
On September 14th, 2017, at around 7:25 p.m., officers from the Redding Police Department responded to Shasta Estates at 1350 Buenaventura Boulevard regarding an at-risk missing adult.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a resident of Shasta Estates, Ronald Carlin (80 years-old), was missing. Carlin had last been seen at around 5:45 p.m. and suffers from advanced dementia. Mr. Carlin left behind his walker and his shoes. Carlin is 5’9” tall, weighs around 175 pounds and has grey hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing gray sweat pants and a white shirt.
Officers searched the complex and the surrounding area with air and ground units, including a police K9; however they were unable to locate Mr. Carlin. Due to the circumstances, Mr. Carlin was entered into the national missing persons database as an at-risk missing adult and a Silver Alert was issued through the California Highway Patrol.
