Shasta College will be hosting its annual Black History Month Events on Thursday, February 16th, 2017 beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the Student Center Stage located in the 2000 building. All are welcomed to attend. This evening of inspiring presentations, dinner, and entertainment is co-sponsored by SCOACHE, Shasta College’s Office of Access and Equity, and the Shasta Historical Society and is provided free of charge. SCOACHE is the Shasta Coalition of African Americans for Community Health, Education, and Empowerment.
Presentations will include keynote speakers Coach Jerry Brown who will speak on his journey to college coaching and what he has learned about supporting student success, Dr. Lea Tate on Building Trust Across Communities, student speakers on success and finding support, and a Shasta Historical Society presentation on Shasta County African American leaders.
