Deer Creek Falls by Ellen Heise
Fine Artist Ellen Heise, Chinese by birth, believes that art, like any strong structure that is expected to last, must have a solid foundation. Moving from Taiwan to America seventeen years ago, it was natural for her to use the metaphors and motifs from her native culture to serve as her solid foundation.
Her art began with the traditional painting techniques of ancient Chinese masters. Using lush oils and intricate landscapes, her early work expressed her cultural roots. She gradually expanded her artistic horizons into brand new territories. Her current ink pen drawings with subtle touches of watercolor reflect her willingness to blend western technologies and materials with ancient traditions.
The result is an exciting exhibit that displays a wide artistic range and fills the Orland Art Center Gallery with a vast variety of technically proficient and emotionally expressive art.
