Auditions for Shasta College’s Production of The Foreigner

Auditions for Shasta College’s Spring play, “The Foreigner,” a hilarious and heartwarming comedy, will be January 17th and 18th in room 522 in the Shasta College Theatre. Actors should prepare a one-minute comedic monologue. “The Foreigner” is scheduled to run March 10, 2017 through March 19, 2017
at the Shasta College Theatre under the direction of Dr. Gregory Thorson. All ages and experience levels are encouraged to audition!

The setting for Larry Shue’s hilarious comedy, “The Foreigner,” is a fishing lodge in rural Georgia often visited by Froggy LeSeuer, a British demolition expert. On this particular visit Froggy has brought along an incredibly shy young man named Charlie who is overcome with fear at the thought of making conversation with strangers. Froggy tells everyone that Charlie is from an exotic foreign country and does not speak English. The locals take a shine to Charlie and begin to teach him English and American culture. Hilarious hijinks ensue!

The Foreigner was the winner of two off-Broadway awards as well as the Outer Critics Circle Awards as Best New American Play and Best Off-Broadway Production. The Foreigner is an inspired comic romp, equal in inventive hilarity to the author’s classic comedy The Nerd.

The Foreigner is produced with special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service. For more information call 242-2369 or email gthorson@shastacollege.edu.
