A Tribute to Willie Dixon; featuring Big Head Todd & the Monsters with Mud Morganfield, Billy Branch and Ronnie Baker Brooks

Big Head Todd

Big Head Todd and The Monsters take the Cascade Theatre stage with Mud Morganfield, Billy Branch and Ronnie Baker Brooks on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 7:30pm.

Big Head Todd and the Monsters have been fans of blues music since their first days together playing music in high school. In 2011 the band delved into the blues with their first Big Head Blues Club project, 100 years of Robert Johnson, which featured guest appearances by BB King, Hubert Sumlin, Charlie Musselwhite, Honeyboy Edwards, and more. That album led to a limited number of tour dates under the Big Head Blues Club moniker that same year. This Fall, the guys will be joined by three second-generation blues stars Mud Morganfield, Billy Branch, and Ronnie Baker Brooks on the road.

Together, these three artists form the 2016 incarnation of the Big Head Blues Club, armed with their brand new album “Way Down Inside” featuring an incredible playlist of songs from Willie Dixon, possibly the most prolific and accomplished songwriters in modern blues and rock n’ roll. If you’re a fan of Muddy Waters and Bo Diddley, or even Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and Rolling Stones, then you know the songs of Willie Dixon. Dixon penned more than 500 hits including You Shook Me”, “You Can’t Judge a Book by the Cover”, “Wang Dang Doodle”, “Spoonful”, “Little Red Rooster,” “I Just Wanna Make Love to You,” “Hoochie Coochie Man,” and “Bring It On Home.”

Tickets are $22-$45 and are available at the Cascade Box Office 1733 Market Street in Redding, by phone at (530) 243-8877 or directly through the Cascade Theatre website at www.cascadetheatre.org. The 2016-17 Cascade Theatre Performance Series is generously sponsored by US Bank.
