Turtle Bay Exploration Park is giving families the opportunity to kick off the season of giving by celebrating National Family Volunteer Day on Saturday, November 21, 2015. Starting at 9am, a wide variety of volunteer activities will be open at the West End of the Gardens located at 1100 Arboretum Drive, off N. Market St. The event will run until noon. These activities will provide support for Turtle Bay’s animal care, education, horticulture, collections, guest services, admin, special events, and marketing departments.

Additional support can be given to our animal care department by bringing any donations for animal enrichments including: whiffle balls, tennis balls, racquetballs, basketballs (mini and regular), soccer balls, wooden beads and blocks (natural, no stain), toddler toys (keys, stackable rings, plastic puzzle toys such as shapes into holes), teething rings, ice cream or popsicle sticks, toilet paper, paper towel or wrapping paper cardboard rolls, wooden dowels, phone books, cardboard egg cartons, new parrot toys, new and strong dog toys that are designed for larger dogs (such as Kong), and paper finger traps.

Turtle Bay thrives on the help of volunteers and November 21st is dedicated to making volunteering as accessible as possible to families. Joining the Family Volunteer Day activities is free to the public. Come support the Park and enjoy the remainder of the day at Turtle Bay with free admission for all Volunteers! Volunteers will receive a special discount off memberships purchased during the event. All families participating in at least 4 activity stations can enter into a raffle for a free family membership here at Turtle Bay. In addition, all participating children will receive free kids meal coupons to Home Town Buffet. If you’re interested, RSVP to Liz Crain at lcrain@turtlebay.org or call 530-242-3143.
