Local author Charlie Price will help launch Shasta College’s new Literary Magazine by reading from his new book on October 22 in Room 806 on the Shasta College Main Campus from 5:30-7:00 PM. The event marks the release of his novel Dead Investigation. In addition, Price’s writing group will also read and give writing tips. Refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.

Charlie Price has written six award-winning, crossover novels that are enjoyed by older teens and adults for their fast pace and compelling plots based on true, unusual, and believable characters. Price received the coveted Edgar award for his mystery The Interrogation of Gabriel James and his fifth book, Dead Girl Moon, was one of three YA finalists for the High Plains Literary Award. His fourth book, Desert Angel, immediately earned a starred review from Kirkus and made the 2012 Best Book Young Adult list. A major television/film company bought its option.

Price earned a Master’s at San Francisco State and has a parallel career working with private companies and non-profit agencies providing leadership projects that include executive coaching, morale building, and conflict resolution. Charlie graduated from Stanford in the late 60’s and has lived in Italy, New York City, Oakland, and Mexico before settling in Northern California. He has been delightfully married to artist Joan Pechanec for the past thirty-two years and has a 32 year-old daughter, Jessica Rose, living in Portland. An avid fly-fisher since childhood, he bought a house on the Upper Sacramento River in Dunsmuir in 1989, achieving the long-time dream of knowing a beautiful trout stream in all its seasons. He and his wife now live there full-time.

Charlie is an associate with the national Center for Executive Assessment, A.C.T. Consulting, and offers Coaching for Change groups with his wife, Joan Pechanec. Most recently, he has been a coach/consultant for the Equity Residential Properties (SP 500) LEAD Program and for I.R.E.M. the Institute of Real Estate Management in Chicago.
