The 16th Annual Mall Jazz Day, sponsored by the Rivercity Jazz Society, will start in the food court at the Mt. Shasta Mall at 10 a.m., finishing at around 4 p.m. Eight schools are scheduled: Sequoia Middle School, Manzonita Elementary School, Turtle Bay Elementary School, CV High School, Anderson Middle School, Parsons Middle School, Enterprise High School, and Foothill High School. Born and raised in Ventura County, Hal Johnson moved to Shasta County in 1994. After a 38 year career flying helicopters, he can now sometimes be spotted around the North State singing and wrestling his guitar into submission.
