The Board of Directors of Shasta Family YMCA announced Monday evening that they have chosen Kristen Lyons as its new Chief Executive Officer.  Kristen has been working with the Shasta Family YMCA since 2011, initially in a Marketing Consultant capacity, was hired in January 2014 as Health & Wellness Director, and has been serving as Interim CEO since November 2014.  Board Chair Chris Jones says “Kristen has provided excellent executive leadership for our Y during the past few months. The Board has been very pleased and impressed with her determination, and we all look forward to building our Y and continuing to strengthen our community with her leadership.”

Kristen Lyons is the new CEO of the Shasta Family YMCA.

Prior to her career with the Y, Kristen has been a Recreation Manager, a Marketing Manager, and she founded and operated her own business. Kristen’s background is rich in recreation and business, with a B.S. degree in Recreation Administration and MBA from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

Kristen moved to our community in 2006 with her husband Silas and her son Emerson, and this year her family hosts a high school Exchange Student from China, Bella. Kristen has been involved in our community from the time she arrived, staring as a Y Volunteer.  Other community groups she has participated in include Turtle Bay Exploration Park, Redding School of the Arts, American Red Cross, Walk this Way, and Healthy Shasta.

The Board Selection Committee was comprised of Chris Jones, Art Morgan, Dan Rossetto, Jim Milestone, and John Dues. Jones says “I am thrilled with the selection committee’s unanimous confidence in Kristen’s ability to lead the Shasta Family YMCA. We all believe that under her leadership the Y will continue to grow, strengthen our community, and serve our youth, individuals and families.”

Lyons said she is humbled and honored to be chosen as CEO to lead the Y.  “I am honored to lead an organization that has served this community for nearly 70 years.  I am especially proud to lead our incredible staff who is devoted to the Y’s mission. It is a joy to work with the Y staff, our Board of Directors, and our community that give so much to the Y.”
