On September 14, 2014, at around 2:29 a.m. officers from the Redding Police Department responded to the 400 block of Lake Boulevard on several reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision.
Upon arrival in the area, Arieanna Bruner (23 years, of Redding) was found lying in the roadway. The involved vehicle was still on scene and was identified as a 1993 Cadillac Seville. Bruner was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical center with major injuries.
The driver of the involved vehicle, Lawrence Abrams (23 years, of Redding) was contacted nearby. Further investigation revealed that Bruner had been walking home with her husband after drinking alcohol at a downtown bar. While walking along the south shoulder of Lake Boulevard, Bruner and her husband became involved in a verbal argument. During the argument, Bruner ran northbound across Lake Boulevard and was struck by Abrams’ vehicle, which had been traveling westbound. Abrams was evaluated at the scene and determined to not be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
