On Friday, July 18th, 2014, a media source reported the alleged name of who they believe is the decedent discovered within the Bully Incident on Wednesday (July 16th). The decedent’s name HAS NOT been confirmed by the Shasta County Coroner’s Office.
The Coroner’s Office has been working diligently in an effort to identify the remains discovered on Wednesday and are investigating several different leads. Additionally, the Coroner’s Office has received the name that was reported by a local media source. This too, is a lead that we are investigating. We are working with different agencies, to include the Mexican Consulate to either confirm or dismiss this lead.
Once we are successful in determining the identity of the decedent, our Office will then be tasked with notifying the “next of kin” to make a proper death notification.
We thank you for your patience during this time. We take our responsibility in the identification of decedents to be both accurate and thorough very seriously. The Coroner’s Office does not want to give any false presumptions or notifications in regards to identification of decedents and cause of death.
